Our Adult Dance & Fitness classes here at DU are social, fun and perfect for those who have never danced before or would love to dust off the old dancing shoes and rekindle a love for dance. With a varied selection of classes, we are sure we will have something perfect for your schedule.
Ballet – Beginners & Improvers
If you have always wanted to try ballet or perhaps danced ballet as a child or teenager, our adult ballet classes would be a perfect choice for you. A mix of barre exercises, centre work and allegro (quicker steps) will develop your balance, core strength and work on grace and posture. No leotard required!
A combination of street dance, modern and hip hop makes this class perfect if you have always wanted to try out the moves seen in music videos and backing dancers. Using both current pop music and iconic artists such as Beyonce and Ariana Grande, this class is sure to help you find you inner diva.
Not sure what dance style you want to commit too? No problem! Our DanceMix class mixes it up each week with various fun styles and routines. One week you could be channeling your inner West End leading lady dancing a jazz routine to Chicago or Hairspray and the next week learning a flowing, emotional lyrical routine or sassy street dance. These classes also help with flexibility as a section of the class is dedicated to stretching and jazz technique such as kicks, jumps and turns.
Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. Our adult contemporary classes here at Dance Unlimited are fun and focus on learning new steps and techniques to allow some escapism and explore this genre of dance.
Vinyasa, also called “flow” because of the smooth way that the poses run together, is one of the most popular contemporary styles of yoga. It’s a broad classification that encompasses many different types of yoga, including Ashtanga and power yoga.
Flow classes string poses together to make a sequence. In vinyasa yoga, each movement is synchronized to a breath. The breath is given primacy, acting as an anchor as you move from one pose to the next. A great class for body and mind.
Ballet Fit is an up beat and fun ballet inspired workout and dance class. With up tempo music and trainers instead of ballet shoes, ballet fit will tone & strengthen muscles you didn’t know existed in a fusion of ballet steps, positions and sequences with a fitness twist. No experience needed and no ballet shoes required.
Our ballet class specifically designed for more mature and older ladies and gents helps with mobility, posture and co-ordination. Whether you danced as a child and want to rekindle your love of dance or are a complete novice, this class will nurture your long lost or new found love of ballet.
Our Barre class combines ballet-inspired moves with elements of Pilates, dance, yoga and strength training. Most classes will incorporate a ballet barre and use classic dance moves such as plies, alongside static stretches. It focuses on low-impact, high-intensity movements designed to strengthen your body in ways that few other workouts can.
